Community Partners
The Comunidades Confined Lab partners with several grassroots organizations and legal agencies working on behalf of communities impacted by the criminal legal and immigration systems. This group makes up the CCL Coalition, which meets tri-annually to provide feedback on the project, to discuss strategies for addressing the harms of confinement, and to help recruit research collaborators. These strong relationships are integral to maintaining the lab’s community-centered commitments. The CCL Coalition community partners do work in diverse areas, including pro-bono/low cost legal representation, direct action organizing with criminalized folks, housing justice, reproductive justice, youth development, reentry, and faith-based community building. We continue to build relationships with organizations in North Carolina to strengthen the CCL Coalition. Please reach out if you’d like to join the Coalition!
